What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga, it’s a very meditative practice, gives us the opportunity to observe our minds; cultivating mindfulness of our feelings, emotions, sensations and mental states. We do this using various physical poses and mental contemplations which allow us to be more present and aware of what is happening in each given moment within ourselves and our surroundings.
Due to our busy, chaotic, stress-filled modern lives, stillness and patience are rarely practiced,
so accessing this inner softness and kindness is not just a relief, but necessary to balance our mind and body.
Yin Yoga accesses the deeper layers of the body like the connective tissues and fascia. Is a slow, gentle paced practice where poses are held for longer periods of time- in a seated or laying position-, because connective tissue responds best to a slow, steady load.
Principles of Yin Yoga
〰️ Slow and Passive
Poses are practiced mostly on the floor and held for extended periods with little to no muscular engagement.
〰️ Focus on Deep Tissues
The prolonged holds allow you to gently stress and stretch the body’s connective tissues, improving flexibility and joint mobility.
〰️ Mindfulness and Meditation
Yin Yoga often integrates mindfulness and encourages introspection, fostering a sense of calm and mental clarity.
〰️ Energy Work
It draws from Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, focusing on energy flow (Qi or Prana) through meridians, similar to acupuncture.

“
I went to Meli’s yin classes couple of times over the past years and always enjoyed them. I liked how Meli teaches her classes with her energizing but soft energy. The yin poses fitted very well together with resting poses in between.
“
Meli always explained everything very well and I enjoyed her classes very much. Afterwards I always felt very calm and relaxed. ”
